My mom made a $600 donation to a Catholic charity. Technically she did receive something in return, prayers being said for a loved one.
With this 'something in return' being intangible and of a spiritual nature.
I was wondering if the $600 could still be claimed as a deduction for a charitable donation on her taxes?
If I pay donation to my father is it tax deductible?
If i give $10,000 to my child, can I deduct it from my taxes?

I work for a not-for profit hospital and we get Paid Time Off hours to use for vacations or sick time off.
The hospitals also allows use to donate our hours to other employees who are in need of PTO hours because the depleted their own because of personnel crisis in their life.
We are allowed to got give up to 20 hours a month to anyone in need.
Can I deduct my Paid Time Off hours (PTOs) on my taxes as money item since it is worth money?

I live in Maine. For 529 contributions in 2010, do I count only those paid from my bank account, or can I also include those contributed to my dependent's account through a gift from his grandfather to me?
If deductions under Sec 80C have not been claimed before the deduction of income tax, can you claim the deductions along with the filling of the tax return after the payment of tax without first making this adjustment?
